Tell us what you want to buy
What happens next
- Step 1 Tell us the kind of firm, the area, the price range and whether you would buy the shares or the client book. Two minutes, no account.
- Step 2 Joseph Ellul reads the brief himself. Nothing is passed to a consolidator, a broker, a panel or a marketing list.
- Step 3 You get a reply about what a search for that brief involves. Ask questions, carry on, or do nothing.
This is a free information site run by Joseph Ellul. When you send a brief, he reads it and replies to you himself; it is not passed to any consolidator, broker or firm, and you pay nothing to ask. The site carries no advertising, no sponsored placement and no affiliate links, and no group in a table has paid to be there. Every figure is read from the named group's or authority's own public page on the date shown. Nothing here is tax, legal, regulated or investment advice; check the source before you rely on a row.

Every group below was read on its own page through our fetch box on the date shown. Three state the size of the client assets they look after; the rest state none on the page we read and are listed too. A figure is the group's own statement, never our estimate.
Every row is a verbatim sentence read from the named source's own page through our fetch service on the date shown, hash-pinned to the stored read (the sha of the page's visible text; the raw page is mirrored to R2). 3 of the 23 named sources that could be read published a usable figure; 20 published none and are recorded as not published, never filled in; 5 could not be read (blocked, dead or unreachable) and count nowhere. The headline figures (median, minimum, maximum, quartiles) are over ONE figure per source in GBP (a source's median where its page yielded several accepted sentences), so N counts sources, never sentences; 9 candidate sentence(s) were refused by a reviewer with the reason recorded. The fuller derivation this dataset is chartered to grow into (not yet what the figures above are; they are each source's own published figure as read): one row per consolidator: backer as stated, acquisition model (outright, downstream buy-out, minority stake), assets under advice the group itself states, deals per year from its own announcements; the count of consolidators active in the last 12 months and the split by model, derived across the groups' own pages

Common questions
Who are the IFA consolidators in the UK?
We list 15 groups read off their own pages on 28 October 2026, among them Fairstone, Ascot Lloyd, AFH Wealth Management, Wren Sterling, Foster Denovo, Kingswood Group and Söderberg & Partners UK. The full list is on this site, each name linked to its own page.(UK IFA consolidators: every row, with its source)
Which IFA consolidator is the largest?
Of the three that state a size on their own home page, Fairstone states the most: £23bn of client investment funds, against £14.8 billion of funds under management at Ascot Lloyd and £11bn of group client assets at AFH. The other groups state no figure on the page we read.(UK IFA consolidators: every row, with its source)
Does buying an advice firm need FCA approval?
Yes, before you cross a controller band. For a Directive firm the bands start at 10%, 20%, 30% and 50%; for general insurance, consumer credit and home finance firms there is one band at 20%. Acquiring control without approval is an offence under FSMA 2000 Part XII.(FCA: change in control quick reference guide)
Where do these figures come from?
Each one is a sentence on the group's own home page or the regulator's own document, read on 28 October 2026 through our own fetch box and stored with the hash of the page's text, so the row can be checked against what was there that day.(UK IFA consolidators: every row, with its source)
Who answers a brief sent from this page?
Joseph Ellul reads it and replies himself. It is not passed to a consolidator, a broker or any other firm, and nothing here is tax, legal, regulated or investment advice.(UK IFA consolidators: every row, with its source)
